Lead visual designer during complete redesign of Yahoo! Mail. Developed a new visual language for the product and now work with a team of visual designers to make sure the design is implemented and extended appropriately.

Designed a set of six color themes for Yahoo! Mail and developed a simple online tool to help the team map swatch values to HTML elements.

Created a complete set of icons for both Yahoo! Mail and the SBC Yahoo! Browser and then organized those icons into fast-laoding images sprites. In Yahoo! Mail, we were able to consolidate over 260 images into just 4 sprites to greatly reduce load time.

Created a complete set of international logos for Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Mail Classic. More importantly, all of Yahoo! Mail has been designed with easy localization in mind.

Designed the PhotoMail toolbar which appears on the Yahoo! Mail compose page as well as a PhotoMail upload tool and a flash tour. PhotoMail allowed users to send up to 300 images without hitting their attachment limit by automatically uploading the images to Yahoo! Photos and sending a photo album link to the recipient.

Designed the first complete, cohesive widget skin for YUI, the Yahoo! User Interface library. This skin is now the default for YUI and has helped the team reach a new set of developers and designers who want 'ready-to-go' components. The image below shows just a subset of the complete widget set.

Illustrated and co-wrote a set of storyboards for an Inbox 2.0 user study. I've participated in several different types of user studies in the past 5 years at Yahoo!, including in-home visits to Mail users in Brazil not long ago.

Designed and developed a simple iPhone MUNI app which scrapes bus arrival times from nextbus.com and reformats the data in an iPhone-friendly layout. The app also provides a consolidated index page of my favorite inbound and outbound routes.

Samsung asked my college design class to create a concept UI for a television which would act as a central hub for all devices connected to it (DVD players, video game systems, CD players, etc). A motion-sensitive remote projected cursor which controlled on-screen elements with a single 'enter' button.

Mr. Roboto Presents is a San Fracnsico event promotion company. The site allows visitors to buy tickets for events, lists past events they've hosted, and, most importantly, is built so that the site owners can post new content without editing code.

A few friends and I built besigner.com 6 years ago so we could stay in touch after graduating from CMU. The format has proved to be much more conducive to extended group conversations than email and, thanks to its simplicity, the design has remained largely unchanged for years.
